Claudia Brown Coulter has dedicated over two decades to public education, enriching her experience with positions inside and outside the classroom. This unique perspective on the needs of schools and students has led her to roles as a Restorative Practices trainer, Anti-Bullying coordinator, and a key figure in introducing peer mediation to her former district. Claudia’s educational background is extensive, with a Master’s in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine Law, a Master’s in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University, and a Bachelor’s in History from California State University, San Marcos. She also holds a California Teaching and Administrative Services credential, underlining her commitment to education and leadership.

Recognized for her innate ability to mediate and resolve conflicts, Claudia naturally transitioned from education to mediation. Her formal training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law fortified this shift. Embracing the benefits of modern technology, she has established an online mediation practice, extending her services across California and beyond. Claudia specializes in family, education, and faith-based disputes, bringing a practical and empathetic approach to her mediation work.

As the go-to mediator for couples navigating divorce while parenting children with special needs, Claudia demonstrates her profound dedication to supporting couples during this challenging transition with compassion and understanding. Her extensive background equips her to handle the complexities of special needs divorce cases expertly.

Claudia is a highly active member of the professional mediation community, contributing her expertise in various capacities. She co-leads the Family Mediation Institute in Southern California, contributes to the Western Justice Center, and serves as the President-Elect for the Southern California Mediation Association. Her involvement also extends to educational realms, where she contributes to training programs at Pepperdine Law School.

Claudia’s “why” for working with people who are divorced/divorcing stems from her desire to create positive outcomes through supportive and empathetic mediation.
