How can a health coach help with my divorce?

How can a health coach help with my divorce?

By Kathy Fritz

You’re in the midst of or just through your divorce, and there are a lot of things you “should” be doing.

But you just don’t have the energy.

And caffeine isn’t helping.

You’re also not really sleeping well (haven’t for months, in fact).

There’s this new bulge around your midsection that is very unwelcome.

You feel weepy at times, rageful at other moments, and you’re starting to wonder if it’s more than the divorce.

This is when a health coach can be helpful to consult.

But before you Google “health coach near me,” let me give you a few pointers.

  1. The term “health coach” is not regulated. “Board-certified health coach” is, so make sure anyone you’re considering is an NBC-HWC (National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach).
  2. Health coaches have specialties. You want a health coach who specializes in the area you need help. In my case, I help women going through perimenopause and menopause alleviate their hormonal symptoms (good-bye weight gain, insomnia, and moodiness!).
  3. Meet before you hire. The coaching relationship is an intimate one, so you want to make sure you actually like this person. I mean, you just got out of a difficult relationship- no point getting into another one!

One last note: Health coaches, even board-certified ones, are not doctors. It’s always a good idea to check in with your PCP to rule out anything major.

Divorce is incredibly stressful (understatement of the year, right?), and stress like that does not do a body good.

Board-certified health coaches do more than just give food guidance. We are trained to coach in all areas of life, including stress management.

And if you’re worried that a health coach will take away your ice cream or tell you you’ve got to start running 5 miles a week, you can let go of that fear.

A quality coach is going to partner with you and discuss your goals, your vision, and work with you so you can reach that vision.

Cue “Eye of the Tiger.”

What other questions do you have about health coaches? Send me an email, and I’ll do my best to answer it.

And if you’re a woman who’s wondering if her hormones are part of the problem, let’s connect!

Kathy Fritz joins Vesta as a national board-certified health and wellness coach (NBC-HWC), specializing in being a Hormone Coach. After working with several clients and her sister through their divorces, Kathy realized the stressor of divorce was seriously impacting women’s hormones.

Today, she works with midlife women impacted by divorce and hormonal imbalance. As a Hormone Coach, Kathy is highly trained and uniquely qualified to help women get relief from their symptoms: weight gain, insomnia, hair loss, low libido, moodiness, hot flashes, fatigue, brain fog, and more.

She accomplishes this through food, movement, and lifestyle changes. Her approach truly puts her clients at the helm, giving them the tools they need to choose their journey to hormone balance and symptom relief. In addition, her clients learn how to prioritize themselves and manage the stressors inherent in this phase of life.

Kathy’s goal is to be a champion for women to help them overcome and thrive despite the life upheaval caused by divorce and the ever-changing hormones.
